The Skyrian House
A sketch by the prominent Skyrian folklorist Angeliki Hatzimichali (1895-1965), from the book "Greek Folk Art – Skyros", published in 1925.
Hatzimichali, the so called “mother of the Greek folklore movement”published numerous studies and books on Greek folklore and traditional art. Two of these books stand out: the above-mentioned book and Sarakatsanoi”, which was published in 1957 and which she she was awarded by the Academy of Athens.
She collaborated professionally and maintained a special friendship both with Maria Faltaits-Mavriki and Konstantinos Faltaits, as well as with the founders of the Museum, Manos and Anastasia Faltaits, to whom she donated the cast plates of her book "Skyros".
